Gait Analysis
Ambulation or walking is the locomotion method we use to move our body’s from one place to another. The way we walk is called gait. While each person’s gait is slightly different from everyone else’s, all normal gaits have basic similarities. Most major differences commonly result from postural variations, weaknesses, structural abnormalities and soft-tissue length alterations. The clinician will use this knowledge of gait to analyse what is occurring within the patient’s walk to help diagnose the problem.
